I am speaking about the new TPD regulations of course, and in this instance, I refer to the United Kingdom as the nanny state that is is. TPD stands for Tobacco Products Directive and essentially, they’re regulations put into place to ensure that you’re safe from the things that the people at the MHRA (The Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) feel are harmful to you. This includes high levels of nicotine and things like bottles that are too large and pour out too quickly, allowing you to use the product faster.
What it also means is that all e-liquids will have to have warnings about nicotine and even some equipment too, since it may be filled with e-liquids which contain nicotine. This, in turn, has forced those companies that manufacture e-juices to repackage all of their products and although the rules also stipulate that more thorough testing must be carried out, which is a good thing, the biggest change that I personally see is that it just passes on more cost to everyone from the manufacturer down to the consumer. Well, that and means you have to reorder your favourite e-liquid more often.
Read Before You Leap
Medusa Juice has always prided themselves on making sure their products were held to the highest standards for their consumers and they always will. I’m not sure how much more they or anyone else can do that isn’t already being done to deliver Vapers the safest, most rewarding experience they can. However, you can rest assured that whatever laws governing Vape Products will always be adhered to by Medusa Juice because we strive to be the best, whether we agree with these new regulations or not, we will uphold them.
Some of the new rules include no bottles over 10ml, which of course means those days of buying huge bottles of your favourite flavours are gone. You can still buy them in multiples of 10ml however. But there again, packaging may have gone up and in turn that cost is passed on to you, the consumer. There is now a 20ml limit of nicotine per bottle as well, but the newer equipment has come along way in having a more efficient way of extracting and carrying the nicotine to the user. All products will now have to go through an emissions test. And if you’re unsure if your e-liquids are TPD compliant, here are some guidelines:
TPD compliant products are
Smaller than 10ml.
Contained in a box.
Come with a warning leaflet.
The nozzle must be at least one centimeter long, and emit no more than twenty drops a minute.
Require nicotine-containing products or their packaging to be child-resistant and tamper evident.
Ban certain ingredients including colourings, caffeine and taurine.
Include new labelling requirements and warnings.
Require all e-cigarettes and e-liquids be notified to MHRA before they can be sold.
All e-liquids must have an ECID (European Community Identification Number) and be registered on the MHRA website.
Comes with a warning stating:
This product contains nicotine which is a highly addictive substance.
And One More Time
On the plus side, you never have to worry about any of the Medusa Juice e-liquids because as I’ve already mentioned, they are fully compliant and quality is paramount to the entire staff.
Medusa Juice has made sure that all of their employees are up on the latest regulations and aware of any issues which may be of concern to their customers. They work tirelessly to ensure you are not only provided with excellent and safe products, but the very best customer service possible. Medusa Juice was founded by people who Vape and continues to be run by Vapers, so your concerns are their concerns as well.
From May 2017 these new regulations have been in place and as many of you may have noticed, things are changing. For instance you may have seen that all of your Favourite Medusa Juice flavours are in new packaging. The flavours are every bit as delicious and as always, the highest standards have been maintained in producing those great tasting e-liquids.
Products that fall under the MHRA guidelines include: Products that require a notification are limited to the e-cigarette product and component elements sold separately that specifically contain, or could contain, nicotine in the form of e-liquid. Therefore e-cigarette products such as disposable units and tanks will require a notification; however e-cigarette equipment such as mouthpieces, batteries and other elements that would qualify as an individual component will not.
Products that do not meet the definition (such as disposable e-cigarettes that do not contain nicotine and 0% nicotine e-liquids) are out of scope of the TPD and do not have to meet its requirements.
It’s Important To Remember
The important thing to remember is that Vaping is still safe, fun and less expensive. It offers a great deal more choices than smoking ever did and you can still enjoy it without worrying like you might have when or if you smoked.
