Derby wins the day
Derby was first settled as Deverentio by the Romans and later came under Danelaw by the Saxons and Vikings. It is seventy-five miles from the Medusa Juice Vape Shop in Peterborough where you can get all the latest and greatest e-liquids and equipment. Derby was initially market town but it grew rapidly during the Industrial era. It became a major Rail centre in England and is also home to the world’s second largest Aero-engine manufacturer, Rolls Royce.
In 917, Derby was captured by Lady Aethelflaed of Mercia, who annexed it into the kingdom of Mercia. Most of modern history believes that it’s very probable that the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons cohabited in this area together for sometime. It would certainly seem that unlike many other towns and cities in this general area, Derby was less war torn through the centuries. Well, if that can be said of any English city, then yes, Derby seems to have been one of the lesser affected cities.
The Parliamentary Troops were garrisoned in Derby during the Civil War of 1642-1646. Later in 1745, Bonnie Prince Charlie set up camp there while on his way to seize the British crown. How’s that for a claim to fame? “A city where you can lay your weary head while on the road to capture crowns and conquer countries.” I’m not positive, but I think that might deserve a mention in the Michelin Guide.
However, if you’re not planning on conquering and capturing anytime soon and would just like to visit the area, see some of the local landmarks and establishments, then I think I can help you along with your quest.
For instance, you may want to stroll the grounds of Calke Abbey or Derby Cathedral, and if that’s not hitting your sweet spot, try going to Derby Gaol. Not literally, but you can visit the historical building and while there, try out some of those new Medusa Juice e-juices that you brought along? What? You didn’t bring any? Well, you had best get ordering from the website or, do like I did, drive on over to one of the shops. You won’t be sorry, as the staff is super friendly and they really know their stuff. I picked up some great new e-juices, a new Vape pen and a hoodie while I was there.
Midland Railway War Memorial is another interesting place to visit and you can sit and enjoy a good vape there as well. Derby has a few museums which are quite interesting and you’ll want to keep these in mind when you go. Pickford’s House, Donnington Collections, East Midlands Aeropark, Derby Silk Mill, Famous Trains Model Railway, Shardlow Heritage Centre and Darby Police Museum are all there for your amusement and if you still want more, you can also try one or more of the art galleries in town. These are Quad, The Two Birds Gallery, Banks Mill Studios and Artcore.
If you fancy taking in a film while visiting Derby, try Showcase Cinema de Lux or Odean Derby. Or if you prefer something a bit more action packed check out Field Sport UK, Markeaton Park, Alter Rock Climbing Centre or Bounce Revolution. There’s even a Rollerworld and Derby Arena and Velodrome for the more active of you out there.
There’s the standard escape rooms as well and some of those are Make Your Escape, Unescapable Escape Rooms, Game Over Escape Rooms and The Escape Room Guys. So, as you can see, there’s plenty to do with or without children. Whatever your interests, you won’t have a problem finding something to hold it.
Derby is home to lovely parks and gardens as well and these are perfect for enjoying Medusa Juice Vapes, so get your gear out and get to hitting it! Darley Park, Hopton Hall Gardens and Locko Park are all perfectly suited to a leisurely stroll or even a little quiet reflection while you can get the time. Derby Arboretum, Derby Hydrangeas and Markeaton Brook are all great places to chill out but my favourite was The Sanctuary.
If you enjoy tours, there’s some good ones to be found in Derby. Vintage Flying offers you a birds eye view of the area and while we’re talking about birds, you can also visit Falconry Experiences and it’s worth the trip, I can tell you. There’s also Real Ale Tours, which goes very nicely with a Medusa Juice e-liquid break. Okay, so there’s no bad time for a Medusa Juice e-liquid break, but you know what I mean.
Start your engines
Supercar Drive Days is a total blast, and it’s a great way to get your heart racing as well. Derby Airfield also does Aerial tours and See Derbyshire Tours is a nice all around sightseeing tour for you.
Intu Derby offers you a lovely shopping experience and gives you every chance to spend, spend, spend. Which makes Medusa Juice’s great prices all the more important. The savings you get on the best e-liquids and equipment from Medusa Juice means that you have more to spend on some retail therapy. So, make sure you check out all of the latest deals Medusa Juice has to offer in any of their three locations in King’s Lynn, Peterborough and Norwich. You deserve the very best and they will give it to you.
