Lead the way to Leicester
If you’re planning a trip to the East Midlands, no trip would be complete without visiting Leicester. Located just forty-one miles from Peterborough, home to one of the newest Medusa Juice Vape Shops, and only seventy-five miles from the home of Medusa Juice, where you can find everything you need for Vaping from e-liquids to equipment.
Leicester is one of the oldest cities in England and has been inhabited for at least two millennia, dating back to the Iron Age. It’s widely believed that the Romans settled what is known as Leicester around 47 AD, during their conquest of Britain. A great deal of knowledge regarding the town after the Romans left is missing, but we do know that Leicester continued as a populated city.
Invasion and expansion
Following the Saxon invasion of Britain, during the Middle Ages, Leicester fell under the jurisdiction of Mercia. Around the ninth century, it came under the Danish Viking rule. Even later, when the Norman Conquest took place, the city was recorded in the Domesday Book as Ledecestre. Is it just me, or was there a whole lot of conquering going on in this place? Fortunately, today, the city is stable and completely English!
Since the city is so old, and obviously important in the history of the East Midlands and England in general, there are many landmarks and places to see. If you are a fan of historical sites, museums, churches and cathedrals, then Leicester has plenty to keep you occupied.
Some of the more interesting places I visited were as follows: The Leicester Guildhall, Gorse Hill City Farm, Kirby Muxloe Castle, Haymarket Memorial Clock Tower, Melbourne Hall, Beaumont Park, Leicester Castle, Stoneygate Tram Depot and The Arch of Remembrance.
Now, that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Because there really is so much here that you don’t want to miss if you have the chance to see it, so if possible, give yourself a couple of days to spend in the general area at the very least.
If you’re a fan of churches and cathedrals, here are a few worth mentioning. Church of St Mary de Castro, St. Nicolas Church, St Peter’s Church and Heritage Centre, All Saints Church and Church Memorial, and Leicester Cathedral. Another statue noteworthy of mentioning is the Sporting Success Statue.
While there, be sure to take a stroll down New Walk and Belgrave Road. The Magazine Beltway is a good place to visit too.
Fancy a bit of fun?

There’s plenty to enjoy in the way of nightlife in Leicester too, in fact, there’s The Good Old Days which is a dance club and disco and you can also visit The Jukebox and The Musician for some cool Jazz, or if you prefer country and western, The Musician offers that too.
Tilt Coffee House offers more than a good cup of coffee, they offer comedy there as well and so have a look at that if you get the chance and enjoy a good laugh with your hot drink. There’s also The Goodfather Comedy, so have a look at what’s on there, when you visit.
